Well that was a wild ride, and one that I begrudgingly stayed up the whole time for, as I type this at 4 AM east coast time. Somehow one of the greatest pitching duels I can remember ends up going over the posted total as we ended up with 8 runs tonight, but boy did it take a while to get there. Buehler and Snell battled deep into the ballgame, Snell and the Padres clinging to a one run lead all the way until a Will Smith blast finally knocked Snell out of the game and knotted things up at 1-1 in the eighth. After a scoreless ninth we proceeded to extra innings where both teams simply couldn’t score. The dodgers go 1-20 with RISP in the first few extra innings. The padres were just as hapless at the plate for the majority of the extra inning frames. McKinney, and Trea Turner came up with clutch RBI Singles to finally extend a lead for the Dodgers. At 3-1 in the fifteenth it seemed like the Dodgers might finally wrap this one up, that is until Fernando Tatis Jr. came to the plate in the bottom half. 0-9 so far this series Tatis was looking visibly frustrated in most of his at bats, but he was offered a high fastball and took it for a ride to tie the game back up at 3. The Padres had exhausted their bullpen and let Camarena stay in the game for the top half of 16. AJ Pollock took him deep and the Dodgers were back on top at 5-3. Things were still in play for the Padres in the second half of the 16th as the struggling Greene came to the mound for the Dodgers. Fortunately for the Dodger Faithful he looked pretty sharp, and was able to secure the win in what was an absolutely bizarre six hour long game that I am still not sure whether or not I am happy I stayed up to watch it, I think I was more shocked at how long it took the two teams to get someone across the plate with a runner starting at second so many times. The Dodgers get it done in an absolute heart breaker for the Padres, the two teams meet again tomorrow, and while the Padres will be doing everything they can to get the win, they will be up against Scherzer, and they will be trotting out the Struggling Darvish. I like the dodgers again tomorrow on the moneyline.
The pick: Dodgers ML ( Play to -150)
