Arguably one of the most entertaining games of the night, this one also saw some great pitching that wouldn’t necessarily be expected. All I saw coming into this game was that it would go over the posted 9 runs due to the starting pitching of Gonzales, and Blackburn. Gonzales had been struggling but was solid in his last outing, and Blackburn is relatively unproven but he came through with some wicked stuff tonight retiring nine batters in a row during one stretch. It was Money Mitch Haniger who decided to take Blackburn for a ride in the sixth inning to tie up the game at 2, Seattle looked hopeless before that bomb. The A’s were then able to add one insurance run, but after stranding five runners the next two innings they left the door open for a typical Trivino blown save, something he especially seems prone to against the Mariners as he blew a save a few weeks ago in Seattle. Ty France took him deep to start the ninth inning, and Seattle then tacked on two runs with a Bauers single. The A’s couldn’t get anything going as they suffered there third straight heartbreaking loss at home, I would not have believed the A’s blowing three straight at home in this fashion if you told me this a week ago as they were rolling pretty good. Unfortunately for them the Mariners are putting Chris Flexen on the mound tomorrow, so I would definitely avoid this game as a bettor, the A’s will be hungry, but Flexen has been having a great season making this a true toss up, if I had to pick I say the A’s find a way to get it done as they cannot afford another loss.
The ill-advised pick: Athletics moneyline (lines not released yet)
